Seagull Apartments in Pernera [nr Protaras] - food!

Hi, I%26#39;ve only seen good reviews of this place, we%26#39;re going next week for a week.

I%26#39;m getting a tad concerned about people saying it%26#39;s expensive. I don%26#39;t remember Cyprus being expensive when we went 4 years ago - however I guess we never %26#39;splash out%26#39; on holiday!

As we%26#39;re going to be self-catering does anyone know if there are supermarkets/mini-marts near the apartments? I think we%26#39;ll be making our own breakfasts and lunches!!!

There%26#39;s a supermarket right across the road. Also several restaurants both across the road and down to the right, all within about 50 yards of the front door.I say to everyone that it%26#39;s as expensive or as cheap as you want to make it.You can get 3 course set menus for as little as £7 in good resuarants(have a look at Noufaro across the road to the left) or Steak and Ale(same side as hotel,20 yards left).Take a walk up to the main road to Anatolia Restaurant, again cheap set menus and one of the best restaurants I%26#39;ve been to on both sides of the island for good value grub.

Loads of places in Paphos this year had full English breakfast with toast and tea/coffee for £1.95 which is hardly breaking the bank.

Toasties or burgers with chips usually £2-3.Pizza Hut is fairly reasonable and fills you up and it used to get cheaper when you went more than once(don%26#39;t know if they still do this?)

hi

thanks for that ... I agree ... holidays definitely are as cheap or expensive as you want to make them! think we%26#39;ll be avoiding Pizza Hut, and Steak and Ale doesn%26#39;t sound like it%26#39;s for a none meat eater like me! ha ha ...

Hi - yes many prices have increased in the last 4 years - for the Cypriots too !

However, if you have been before then you know that most places have their menus outside for you to check out so you should not get a nasty surprise when the bill comes. The local or %26#39;house%26#39; wine is still a good buy in most tavernas and, especially if there are a few of you, they dont mind if you order several dishes to share. A lot of the tavernas still give you a free sweet of fruit or a drink on the house too. Best bet is to ask around for recommendations. Enjoy

Steak and Ale does sound a bit %26quot;beefy%26quot; but it%26#39;s a Cypriot restaurant owned by a Cypriot family. When we first went 7 or 8 years ago the youngsters of the family would help with bringing the food etc so no doubt they%26#39;ll be fully fledged waiters, waitresses and chefs by now.

yes, I%26#39;ve just been talking to my husband about it and he said that he understood %26#39;Steak and Ale%26#39; wasn%26#39;t some dodgy English pub! ha ha!
