What are the names of any less touristy towns, where the Cypriot people live.We are staying in the Nissi Bay area, but will hire a car and would like to see some of the less crowded towns and beaches. We go on Sunday

not many places will be quiet this time of the year. This is the holiday period for the Cypriots as well so places will be busy.
Nicosia will be quiet, as the people will have gone on holiday.

No where...saying that my parents who live in Limassol say alot of the hotels are only half full.

hi , head to the akamas area of cyprus and the town of polis.
the akamas peninsula is a beautifully unspoilt area , with superb countryside , deserted beaches ( though they tend to be pebbly ).
polis is lovely little town with a lovely square which has a good selection of restaurants/bars etc but it is in no way over touristy.
it is quite a drive from where you are staying ( about a 2 hour drive, but it is motorway ayia napa to paphos) but it is well worth it.

Thanks all for your reply`s,did not give it a thought that it would be holliday season there as well. Will do the 2 hour drive ,as that area sounds lovely.

On the way to Polis try Milos, lovely village surrounded by orange groves. The Mukhta of the village owns some of the most beautiful rental accomadation on the island (stone built in traditional style).Just past Milos is the village of Goudi (pronounced Gouthi) very small village with a steep road to the top.Fantastic view of the Akamas and coast.Lovely orchids in the spring, partridge, and if you are lucky you will see the very rare Cyprus hare. This area is all on the Akamas,if you go a little further in you will see the old Turkish cypriot villages, there are still three families living there and they just manage to eek out a living...

I stayed in Paralimni which is just north of Aiya Napa. Very quiet but few Cypriots there.
