Hi nicolacoxgold

We stayed at the Alexander the Great hotel last October/November. It%26#39;s a great hotel in a fantastic location - we loved it!

Regarding your queries:

We were B%26amp;B only so I don%26#39;t know what the flexi dine system is, but we ate one evening in the restaurant (only because we had no choice due to the terrible weather). It was a themed help-yourself buffet, which I understand is what it is most evenings. The food was okay but there wasn%26#39;t much atmosphere. Personally, I would recommend that you only eat there for breakfast (which was good) - there are so many fantastic restaurants to choose from within walking distance of the hotel.

The beaches in Paphos aren%26#39;t great, and that includes the beach next to the Alexander the Great. Most people stay by the wonderful pool area where you have allocated sunbeds for the duration of your stay (don%26#39;t forget to go down to the Pool Attendant as soon as you arrive to choose %26#39;your spot%26#39;.)

The entertainment in the evening is very much geared up to the elderly guests, e.g. pianists, singers playing electric keyboards, but they have a great happy hour, where you can get drinks for half price. We%26#39;re in our 30s and we used to come down early and have a few drinks in the bar before heading out for our dinner. After dinner, our favourite place to have drinks was in the Cafe Vienna, which was a 5 minute stroll left from the hotel (heading towards the centre of Paphos); it had a lively, young crowd handing out there.

Here%26#39;s the review I posted when we got back from our holiday, which might give you more of a flavour of the hotel and what%26#39;s close by:

Give me a shout if you have any more queries. (PM me if you want me to email you some photos I took there.)

Take plenty of money for the hotel, it is five star and has five star prices for drinks etc, lovely choice of hotel though. The beach is clean and the sand is soft, remember though that all the beaches in Cyprus are open to the public and anyone not staying at the hotel can set up with their towels next to you, they just can%26#39;t sit on a hotel sunbed. The entertainment is okay, but that depends on your age, if you%26#39;re in you 20%26#39;s, 30%26#39;s ,40%26#39;s and a bit trendy then you will probably find it a bit old fashioned. Make sure you get a room with a sea view, there are some lovely sunsets. Enjoy!
