Mosquitos

OK I know it%26#39;s a silly question, but going to Ayia Napa in 4 weeks time.

Is there lots of the dreaded mozzies about?

Thanks in advance.

Yes there are.Anywhere there is dirty water there are mosi%26#39;s.Try a repellant with at least 50% deet.You could try Zivarnia,a local drink but Cypriots swear by it...

|||

Is it an alcoholic drink? Have you tasted it?

|||

Take Autan or Jungle Formula, antihistamine tablets and bite relief just in case you do get bitten but best of all keep arms and legs covered up after dusk . I am a magnet to mossies but surprisingly Cyprus is the one place I haven%26#39;t been eaten alive. Zirvania is the local firewater and a very good sedative!!

Yes it is great,it cleans windows,helps heal cuts,great for colds with honey.

|||

Thanks! I%26#39;ll try it.

Hi, try buying something called a bite clicker from alarge chemist (not sure if you have a Boots) basically its a little thing that when and if you get a bite you click this thing on the bite, it give you a tiny little shock it takes the bite out stopes it welling etc - they are really good cost about £4.99 and last for about 500 clicks so you can use it for a good few holidays, i never travel without one.

Have fun

Not sure about now but antihistamines used to be a lot cheaper in Cyprus than UK. I used to but their eqivalent of Zirtak but spelt Zytek

|||

All medicines are cheaper in Cyprus.Antibiotics are very cheap and are available over the counter.Chemists in Cyprus are some of the best in Europe,with highly qualified staff available.The same goes for doctors and dentists,you pay a fee (very reasonable)but far better service than our beloved Health Service...

I went on the 8th July for 2 weeks and it was really hot but me and boyfriend never got bitten once or even seen any mozzies. First time that we have been abroad to a hot country and not been bitten so all the creams, sprays and tablets that we took with us were a waste of time. The only thing that we did use was afersun from Boots which has insect repellent in it so I personally wouldnt worry about it until you got there and if you did start to get bitten then go to a local shop and buy some.
