stayed in Paphos from 24th June for a week and stayed last week in the Algarve. For all the posts on here saying how expensive Paphos has become perhaps it will be pleasing to know that it is much cheaper than Portugal. I stayed in Praia Da Luz and ate out there and in Lagos and Vilamoura so got a good cross section of prices. A very average meal for 2 adults and a child in Lagos was 65 euros( £45.50) and the cheapest meal we had was 52 euros(£36.40). Of course, it is often forgotten that the bill in Cyprus already contains the service charge so the Algarve meals did not include the tip!! When you consider that we ate at the Konia Tavern for 3 of us for a total inc service charge of CY£23 (less than £29) and on average paid about Cy£29 (about £36) then it is a no brainer as to where is cheapest. I was also in Spain between Marbella and Estepona in May and their prices are similar to the Algarve. I was so pleased to prove that what I believed was true:that Cyprus is still better value than most places. What I am worried about is when they enter the Eurozone in January. I hope it doesnt happen but I fear price rises will inevitably follow. We will see.

I have to agree with you wales45, I experienced the same as you with Algarve vs Paphos.
And again I share your concern that when Cyprus goes euro the prices will soar. Costs doubled or more in Crete when they went euro. Paphos will be no different. I hear some till receipts are already dual currency and the euro amount does not equate to the cyp£ vs stering pound conversion. Troubled times ahead...
