never driven abroad

How good are the sign posts,is the motorway in a ring,so that if you stay on it you will get back to where you started. Is it easy to find petrol stations, are roads well made and lit at night. Is it strict on places you can park.Any tips or information on this subject would be a great help, THANKS.

Well Cyprus would be a good place to start as they drive on the same side of the road as us!

The motorway runs from Paralimni in the east to Paphos in the west , and there is a section running to Nicosia from Larnaca. It does not go round in a circle. We find the signs OK, but always manage to get lost round Larnaca for some reason.

Petrol stations are easy to find and petrol is a lot cheaper than the UK. We always stick to the speed limits as there are a lot of police with speed cameras on the motorways, whose sole purpose in life is to catch hire cars speeding.

Parking is a lot easier than in the UK, most places you don%26#39;t have to pay.

The motorways and main roads are in a good condition generally, but the smaller country roads are very variable.

The driving time from Ayia Napa to Paphos is about 2.5 hours .

Hope this helps, it is well worth hiring a car and exploring if you can.

Only other country I have driven in was Cyprus, well I had to really I used to live there!!!! Road signs are much better than in UK, motorways are brilliant. You just have to keep your wits about you as some of the other drivers are a bit manic.

Buy a good road map. Maps given by hire companies are often poor. Take your time driving as most accidents by people in a foreign country are caused when they are in a hurry.

In a hire car you cannot travel between the south and north of the island unless specifically allowed to do so.
