Cyprus money.

Hi, I am going to Protaras in August and staying at the Sunrise Beach Hotel. Can anyone advise me whats the best way of taking my holiday money? I dont want to take it all in local currency as it is a bit risky if you lose it! I have been told to take euro travellers cheques? Are there cash machines in the area?

Hi there, im just back from cyprus this week,

I took 400 cyp pounds in cash and i used the bank machine when i ran out.

If you are going to be using your card make sure your bank doesnt charge you as you will then be charged twice for lifting out money.

There are 3 or 4 bank machines in protaras, very easy to find.

hello we were at the sunrise till 11th july, cash machine is basicly just across the road from hotel , we were getting 84cy for £100 sterling travellers check at most places there .

Hi have just come back from Protaras for the fifth time and we have always taken sterling and changed it at the many exchange places.The rate we were getting last week was .843 which is slightly better than the Post Office etc.There are a number of cash machines in the area so getting money is not a problem.Hope this helps and you will have a great time.

Hi, I have been told not to rely on the cash machines as they tend to run out of money at weekends!!

Anyone whos been to the Sunrise Beach...can you exchange sterling travellers cqs at reception?

Is it true Cyprus will be using the Euro from Jan 2008?

ATMs can work out quite expensive if your bank (and most do) put on admin charges etc.

Yes you can exchange travellers check at sunrise for 0.79cy per £1, better to go to travel agents right across road 0.84 per £1. very easy to exchange travellers checks in protaras , they are every where.was at sunrise till 11th july 2007.
