My husband and I are hoping to have our first holiday with our baby who will be 10 months in October. We want to get some heat and sunshine and thought Cyprus might be a good idea(we%26#39;ve never been there before). We have always been very independent travellers and loath the thought of a package holiday or a resort. We were hoping to find a lovely quiet self catering spot somewhere where we can be near shops(for food supplies), restaurants and clean beaches.... and access to a swimming pool. Any suggestions?
Many Thanks
Tania

What resorts are you looking at ? I Love Protaras which is very family orientated. The Lantiana is a nice hotel, in a good location and 2 mins from the beach, I stayed there 2 years ago. I am staying in the Alva in September.

A baby need not mean the end of independent travel. It would be just as easy to book your flights, and then look for a villa with pool to rent maybe somewhere like Pissouri or Polis, which are smaller resorts on Cyprus. If beaches are important to you then the other side of the island (east ) would be better, and there are plenty of villas and smaller hotels in the Paralimni area, close to beautiful beaches.
The weather in October should be ideal for taking a baby abroad, we took our daughters and grandchildren (4 years, and 7 months) two years ago and the weather was generally good.

If you really are anti resort or package holiday have a look at www.holidaylettings.co.uk. A villa may be the answer for you but be prepared to pay between 500 %26amp; 1000CYP per week. On top of that you would then have to arrange air fares. I travel independently as I can%26#39;t stand the thought of an organised holiday but do stay in apartments on the eastern side of the island where the best beaches are. Don%26#39;t be put off by package holidays to apartments - during October the season is winding down and you will find it relatively quite and most apartments welcome small babies. If you click on the above website this will take you to the Sirena Bay area of Pernera - ideal if you want a quiet holiday by yourselves.

Hi All
Thank you so much for your responses! I haven%26#39;t checked the post until now and didn%26#39;t realise there were responses-thanks for all the advice. I%26#39;ll be looking up the websites mentioned and will research the spots mentioned. I%26#39;ve been randomly trawling through the internet and now at least I have some direction.
Thanks again.
Tania
