Taxi fares

Flying out to Pathos on Wed morn 1/8. Can anybody give me an idea of the price for a taxi from Pathos Airport to Damon Apartments?....just to reduce the rip...!

Thanks

|||

normally it is between CYP15 - 17 but have heard a staggering 25 %26amp; 30, remember no matter where you go always ask the fare before you get in

kev

|||

Thanks Kev, that info will be fine to go on, gives me an idea.

|||

You could ring Daphnes taxi service, they are based in Kato Paphos and will meet you at the airport and quote you a price on the phone. From the UK, 00357 26 944 013, 00357 26 935 521, 00357 936 056, they are open 24 hours.

alexander the greaty hotel

anyone please give any help with hotel ,I would like to know how the flexi dine system works and what the meals are like.Is the beach clean and is the sand soft.What is the entertainment like at night in hotel and any other info would be great.

|||

Hi nicolacoxgold

We stayed at the Alexander the Great hotel last October/November. It%26#39;s a great hotel in a fantastic location - we loved it!

Regarding your queries:

We were B%26amp;B only so I don%26#39;t know what the flexi dine system is, but we ate one evening in the restaurant (only because we had no choice due to the terrible weather). It was a themed help-yourself buffet, which I understand is what it is most evenings. The food was okay but there wasn%26#39;t much atmosphere. Personally, I would recommend that you only eat there for breakfast (which was good) - there are so many fantastic restaurants to choose from within walking distance of the hotel.

The beaches in Paphos aren%26#39;t great, and that includes the beach next to the Alexander the Great. Most people stay by the wonderful pool area where you have allocated sunbeds for the duration of your stay (don%26#39;t forget to go down to the Pool Attendant as soon as you arrive to choose %26#39;your spot%26#39;.)

The entertainment in the evening is very much geared up to the elderly guests, e.g. pianists, singers playing electric keyboards, but they have a great happy hour, where you can get drinks for half price. We%26#39;re in our 30s and we used to come down early and have a few drinks in the bar before heading out for our dinner. After dinner, our favourite place to have drinks was in the Cafe Vienna, which was a 5 minute stroll left from the hotel (heading towards the centre of Paphos); it had a lively, young crowd handing out there.

Here%26#39;s the review I posted when we got back from our holiday, which might give you more of a flavour of the hotel and what%26#39;s close by:

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g190372-i9179-k861…

Give me a shout if you have any more queries. (PM me if you want me to email you some photos I took there.)

|||

Take plenty of money for the hotel, it is five star and has five star prices for drinks etc, lovely choice of hotel though. The beach is clean and the sand is soft, remember though that all the beaches in Cyprus are open to the public and anyone not staying at the hotel can set up with their towels next to you, they just can%26#39;t sit on a hotel sunbed. The entertainment is okay, but that depends on your age, if you%26#39;re in you 20%26#39;s, 30%26#39;s ,40%26#39;s and a bit trendy then you will probably find it a bit old fashioned. Make sure you get a room with a sea view, there are some lovely sunsets. Enjoy!

Information on Cyprus Resorts for a disabled holiday maker

Hello there,

I was hoping that some people out there would be able to provide me with some information regarding disabled access in Cyprus

I am 25 years old and suffer from Brittle Bones so I am a wheelchair user and the due the nature of my disability I can not get out of my chair although I can manage to do side transfer i.e. in and out of taxis or onto sun loungers etc. I%26#39;m thinking of coming on holiday to Cyprus next year Are there any other resorts that would be suitable for me to come to? I was particularly thinking of the following resorts:-Limassol, Ayia Napa, Nicosia, Paphos and Coral Bay. Although any info on any resort will be most helpful. My idea of a holiday is spending the days on the beach or going on a boat trip and nights would be going to bars to have a few drinks and watch some good entertainment. Not one for spending all night clubbing!!! Are there any beaches that are accessible for me i.e to transfer onto a sun lounger or is there anyway I could get in to the sea (in Palma Nova and Los Cristanos they had 3 wheeled chairs that could be wheeled into the sea). Would I be able to get into the bars/restaurants? Is the public transport accessible? Are there any boats trips that I would be able to go on. Also are there any public disabled toilets or would I have to use the facilities in the hotels.

I%26#39;m sorry for asking so many questions, but as you can imagine it can be tricky planning a holiday when you are in a wheelchair, but any information that you can give me would be great.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Kind Regards,

Goodison Girl :-)

|||

Hi,

Limassol is fairly wheelchair friendly.Two hotels that are paticulary good are the Ajax and the Curium Palace.Both are flat in and around the pools,plenty of shady areas.Bars and restaurants are both on ground level.Rooms are upstairs but both have decent lifts to floors.The sea front at Limassol is flat if a little busy at times.Good access to plenty of bars and food outlets.Beaches are sparce but not much sand to negotiate to get into the sea,no shear drops getting into the sea but a gradual shelf.

Trips by boat and bars are all accessable from the town but this might require a push or a short taxi drive.Both hotels I mentioned will certainly help and point you in the right direction.There is virtually no public transport in Cyprus but a taxi ride is relatively cheap for short trips...Hope this helps a little..

Pissouri

Hi,

I am going to Pissouri with my parents and boyfriend in September. I%26#39;m a bit concerned it might be a bit quiet - are there any bars and restaurants, and is there much to do nearby?

Thanks.

Sarah

|||

Hi Sarah,

It is a sleepy small village in between paphos and limassol, beautiful location. there are some local restaurants. but to get to young night life you will need a car. there is not a bus service. Taxis would work out expensive.

Regards

Sue

|||

Thanks Sue. That%26#39;s what I thought.

Sarah

|||

You%26#39;re in a very good spot. I always stay just outside Ayia Napa but really enjoy my trips to Pissouri. Here you will find the true Cyprus

|||

Sassy, don%26#39;t worry. Pissouri is beauriful, the beach is great, you will be able to do water sports and yes, there are bars and lots of cypriot tavernas and restaurants. Anyway, Paphos And Limassol are only 20 min away where you can find a lot of things to do. Have you booked accomodation? A car is also necessary as it is too hot to walk and there is no transport. If you need any help or suggestions let me know. I know people and the place very well.

Christabelle annexe ayia napa anyone stayed here recently??

HI i have read the reviews about this apartment but none of them are really that recent and i was wondering if anyone stayed there this year and is they could tell me what the annexe bit is like

me and my boyfriend are going the beginning of october can anyone tell me what it will be like that time of year thanks x

|||

hey I dont know anything about the apartments you are staying in but in answer to your question about what its like in october I can tell you a bit. Temperature will probably be in the late 20%26#39;s so will still be lovely and warm, there is the Independence day holiday on the 1st of october, not sure if the shops will be open that day or not, best to check with your holiday rep and find out. This is a good online guide that tells you more about the weather and whats going on in Cyprus in october.

Hope you have a great holiday xx

hi ya have you been 2 aiya napa in october is it still reasonably busy clubwise? thanks x

car rental

Staying in the Nissi Bay area ,can anyone reccomend agood place to rent a car

|||

hi

just got back from Nissi beach and we hired a car from the hire place across the road from the Nissi beach hotel ( can%26#39;t remeber the name, but you won%26#39;t miss it)

We went in on the off chance and we had a daeoo matiz, brand new just delivery mileage full tank of petrol and take it back empty for £60cyp 2 whole days. We left it outside the hotel on the second night and they came to pick the keys up from reception. As you know the longer you have it the cheaper it is.

I know a matiz is not exactly the car of choice but we saw some lovely cars outside for people who has pre-booked. We left it to the morning and that was the only type of car left ! We visited loads of places in Cyprus - it was superb

|||

Thanks for reply,probably end up with the same car you used.Looking forward to finding some less croweded beaches,we go on Sunday.

special place to go for my twins 5th birthday

My daughters will be 5 on the 5th of August,would like to take them to a nice place for the day.We are staying at the Olympic Lagoon Resort,Nissi Bay area.We do not mind what the distance is as we can get a bus or taxi or hire a car. THANKS

|||

You should take them to the waterpark for the day, its amazing and i%26#39;m sure they will have a great time. They will probably sleep really well that night too but if not there is a fun fair in Ayia Napa too!

|||

Thanks for the suggestion,someone said that the one in Ayai Napa did not have much for the under 6 age group,but there is a very small one in Protaras that would suit them.

|||

there will be plenty for them to do in the one in Ayia napa, there is the lazy river, a massive bucket that fills up and tips out, the pool as a wave machine, it is a brill day out, i will be there in september

|||

Thanks for reply,will give it a go,I think we will be spending most of the time in the water as weather is so hot.

car hire for the naive

Hi

I%26#39;m going to be staying at the ledra beach in September and we are thinking of hiring a car. i have never done this before so i%26#39;m hoping someone can tell me what the pitfalls are, what insurance and waivers i need to buy, do i need to fill it with petrol before taking it back etc... also the estimated cost and best place to hire from.

Also, the main reason for hiring i is to go to a restaurant in the mountains for lunch. can anyone suggest interesting sites to visit while we have the car - little villages or monastery’s etc...

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

|||

Hi,

no pitfalls in hiring a car.Very simple all are insured and usually have enough petrol.As you are going in September I would certainly haggle for a good price,(expect 12-14 Cy per day).There are hundreds of car hire outlets,so no need to worry re choice.

You are certainly spoilt for choice on where to go once you have a car,my advice would be head up the mountains.A place that tourists genrally never go is along the coast from Polis towards the green line.You will pass some lovely villages and a couple of very small seaside towns.You finally end up at the checkpoint for the Turkish side,well worth a trip just to see the Turkish bunkers and gun emplacements overlooking the area.

|||

We used econamy car hire we picked it up from the airport and dropped it of on the way home all you needed to do was make sure it had a 1/4 tank of petrol when returned. The car was fairly cheap and hassle free when we picked it up.

|||

Hi - most of the companies are quite straight forward when telling you what is covered and (unlike some countries) dont add lots of extras after quoting the price ! Some companies give you a full tank and you take it back the same- others will say bring it back as they give it you i.e. half full, third full. Just try not to go through your travel company - we were forced to one year and got royally ripped off ! We also had to pay a fuel deposit which we got back 2 months later ! You should reckon on about £20 per day. You will have plenty of choice in Paphos and the hotel may even recommend a company.

Driving is fairly easy as they drive on the left same as UK, just be aware of very high roadside verges - saw someone take his exhaust off trying to park half on the pavement.!

Also just take it steady once you get away from the main areas as the roads can suddenly become tracks ! Dont try and go off road without a 4 x 4. Remember to take your licence. Enjoy

|||

thanks for the replies so far everyone. seems far more straight forward than i expected. I was under the impression you have different types of insurance and also a policy with an excess waiver, so if you did have a prang you don%26#39;t have to pay the excess. if this still the case?

|||

No excess,just remember tourist hire cars have red plates,this can sometimes lead to Cypriots being a little impatient.We always get a car with white plates-you tend to be treated in a different manner.God forbid you have a prang but if you do take a photograph straight away,it is quite common for some road users to drive away (as my father found out).Also watch your speed there are now plenty of speed traps in Cyprus and the fine will be hefty.There is a notorios one on the way from Paphos to Limassol(it is the only tunnel on the island)because it belongs to the UK bases they tend to man it rather alot,you will be stopped if only 5km over the limit.

Drink driving is also a big no no,even the day after a few drinks,no excuses they will come down extremely hard.Sorry I have probably put you off now....Common sense prevails in Cyprus,enjoy...

|||

We are going to Coral Bay in Sept%26#39; %26amp; have hired our car from Savvas Houlos . He comes highly recomended on this forum %26amp; doesn%26#39;t ask a deposit . you can settle it all by e-mail before you go so you have nothing to lose by giving it a try.

houlos@hotmail.com

|||

thanks for the replies again.

still not 100% sure about the %26#39;extras%26#39; Avis offer this on their website, could anyone tell me if i need all of them? seems the cost with avis for an astra is almost 80 cyl per day with these extra%26#39;s, is that expensive compared to independants in Cyprus?

Collision Damage Waiver ( 8.00 CYL per day ) --

Personal Accident Insurance ( 1.30 CYL per day ) --

Liability Insurance ( 2.21 CYL per day ) --

Theft Protection ( 2.60 CYL per day ) --

|||

No extras needed.When you hire in Cyprus you will be fully insured.It will include all accident damage,theft,fire and breakdown.It will also work out alot cheaper than through a holiday company or a world wide franchise.

I have been hiring cars from independants in Cyprus for over twenty years and have never had one problem.We have always had a quality car (nissan,toyota honda) and always under 10,000 on the clock..in Paphos you are spoilt for choice...also once you are out of the towns you will find the roads extremely quiet,even at peak periods.

|||

I have just read your quote from Avis...I think that figure is obscene,the maximum you should pay with air con is £20cy,personnally we pay half that.I am quiet prepared to give you contact details but it is in Limassol,and we hire for the full duration of our stay.The car is waiting at the airport on arrival and we leave at the airport on departure..

|||

thanks for the reply

i think i must have picked the most expensive car hire company in the world!

Paphos

hi

new visitor to paphos but as have large family booking a private villa.

no idea best area to stop though. want fairly close to acivities / bars etc.

anyone any advice?

thanks

|||

There area privately rented villas all over Paphos, to be close to the facilities and amenities the Universal and Tomb of the Kings areas are probably best.

|||

Hi,

Who are you booking with? I%26#39;m getting married next September and have about 40 people coming. Was thinking of getting some 3/4 bed apartments to keep costs down for everyone.

Any help would be great, pulling my hair out at the moment

Charlene

|||

try this they are in coral bay , paphos

Reply to lawgers907 - re wedding bookings. When my nephew got married in Paphos there were about 40 of us going from 3 countries - in the end they decided to tell everyone where the couple and immediate family were staying and let everyone else make their own arrangements. It worked because then those people with families could chose apartments, others chose 4 star hotels and made it their main holiday, some went for a week, others for a fortnight etc.

Paphos is not a big place and we ended up bumping into each other all the time, we all did our own things during the day and tended to meet up in groups for the evening. The younger ones did the bars and clubs until the early hours and appeared after lunch, the older ones didnt !! It worked really well. Hope all goes well whichever way you decide to go.

Help Needing advice on Paphos in dec/jan

I will be going to cyprus in Dec arriving 26th Dec for two weeks,

Looking forward to seeing cyprus but I,m wary now with reading some reviews on here about how dear paphos is becoming. Im not sure how much money to allow for spending and with it changing to the euro 1st jan just confuses things even more.

Hubby and I dont drive but we want to find some authentic places to eat in paphos as we tend to avoid tourist places,

anyone got any advice in what is best way to get around in paphos in dec/jan and were is the best places to go.

any advice or tips on were to go on new years eve would be most welcome as well

|||

Hi ScotlandHazel,

To be honest if you don%26#39;t drive then you will have to be in the centre of either Paphos or Coral bay so that you can get about, Bus service is every 15 mins from paphos to Coral bay.

Although some places do close over the xmas period there are still loads of places open.

I am not going into the debate on how expensive Paphos is or not as I feel it has been totally exhausted by now, but I will say that Cyprus is no different then any other tourist resort, I am a well travelled person %26amp; if you go to a tourist area then you have to accept that they will add a little extra on, but the way some people on this forum has been trying to make out Paphos seems to be leading in the title race for the most ripoff destination. In the torist area%26#39;s you will expect to pay CYP10 for a meze outside the tourist trap you will pay CYP8.50 pint of Keo between CYP1 - CYP1.50, anyay prices will drop in dec / jan anyway.

there is about 21 hotels in Paphos %26amp; they all have entertainment on but last year not one of them had a piper to bring in the New Year

hope this helps

kev

|||

thank you kev

We are staying at the Anemi apartment hotel just round the corner from bar street I understand.

I dont mind paying a bit extra for meals etc and will take on board what you are saying about costs , will make my own mind up when we get there.

I,m looking forward to finding out more about cyprus as it looks a lovely island

thanks for responding to me

|||

Hi - there is a lovely Flambe restaurant at the end of Bar street, hope its still there ! Re authentic places to eat it can be difficult sometimes as even a local dish can be served with chips- (I always ask for potatoes instead of chips because the Cyprus potatoes are lovely)- and always ask the staff if they can recommend local dishes, they are usually only too pleased to advise.

Re how much to take, well we go to Greece a lot and we always add a bit more for Cyprus. There are lots of shops and supermarkets so you dont need to eat out all the time. Most places have their prices displayed outside so you will get an idea of how much a meal costs.

Enjoy, we are off again in October !

Mosquitos

OK I know it%26#39;s a silly question, but going to Ayia Napa in 4 weeks time.

Is there lots of the dreaded mozzies about?

Thanks in advance.

|||

Yes there are.Anywhere there is dirty water there are mosi%26#39;s.Try a repellant with at least 50% deet.You could try Zivarnia,a local drink but Cypriots swear by it...

|||

Is it an alcoholic drink? Have you tasted it?

|||

Take Autan or Jungle Formula, antihistamine tablets and bite relief just in case you do get bitten but best of all keep arms and legs covered up after dusk . I am a magnet to mossies but surprisingly Cyprus is the one place I haven%26#39;t been eaten alive. Zirvania is the local firewater and a very good sedative!!

|||

Yes it is great,it cleans windows,helps heal cuts,great for colds with honey.

|||

Thanks! I%26#39;ll try it.

|||

Hi, try buying something called a bite clicker from alarge chemist (not sure if you have a Boots) basically its a little thing that when and if you get a bite you click this thing on the bite, it give you a tiny little shock it takes the bite out stopes it welling etc - they are really good cost about £4.99 and last for about 500 clicks so you can use it for a good few holidays, i never travel without one.

Have fun

|||

Not sure about now but antihistamines used to be a lot cheaper in Cyprus than UK. I used to but their eqivalent of Zirtak but spelt Zytek

|||

All medicines are cheaper in Cyprus.Antibiotics are very cheap and are available over the counter.Chemists in Cyprus are some of the best in Europe,with highly qualified staff available.The same goes for doctors and dentists,you pay a fee (very reasonable)but far better service than our beloved Health Service...

|||

I went on the 8th July for 2 weeks and it was really hot but me and boyfriend never got bitten once or even seen any mozzies. First time that we have been abroad to a hot country and not been bitten so all the creams, sprays and tablets that we took with us were a waste of time. The only thing that we did use was afersun from Boots which has insect repellent in it so I personally wouldnt worry about it until you got there and if you did start to get bitten then go to a local shop and buy some.

kapparis

hi we are staying in kapparis the new town aparently, ive stayed in potras before but was woundering if anyone knows about kapparis... ike would we need a car or is it really bad

please can anyone help gping on the 08/08/07

|||

Hi

Where are you staying?

Kapparis is great for a chill-out break if you%26#39;re near the main drag which has several excellent restaurants and pubs. There%26#39;s also four pools in walking distance which are open to the public if you buy food and drink there. And the lovely sandy coves, of course.

It%26#39;s unlikely you%26#39;re near a bus route, so a car or taxi is needed to get to Protaras (about four miles away).

hi

we%26#39;re going 08/08/07 too, but staying in konnos bay. however, my cousin has an appartment which we%26#39;ll be spending some time in that%26#39;s in kapparis, she reckons it%26#39;s fairly quiet but only a stones throw away from protaras, you could easily get a cab or hire a car ?

they said the beach is lovely and within walking distance too.

there%26#39;s a good forum site called cyprus eastern forum chat - google it - there%26#39;s loads of info there :-)

in need of help!!!

hi all, i have been to cyprus before, i went to paphos, with my parents, and now im looking to go with my fiance were both 19 and are not really interested n night life, allthough we dont want it dead, were into beaches and excursions and day trips we are just unsure of which resort would be the best for what we like please help!!!!??? thanks x

|||

I would say,going by your criteria,you%26#39;d enjoy Protaras.Loads of good restaurants and lively(some tacky kareoke) bars and a great beach all on the same stretch of road.The main hotels that access the beach directly are a bit on the pricey side but there are some great self catering apartments a stones throw away,especially if you want to eat out and not be tied to half board.Have a look at Brilliant Apartments,Golden Star,Rising Star just to name a few.Protaras is also a good base for exploring with Ayia Napa,Famagusta close by.

Would also recommend Coral Bay,smaller resort than Protaras but has many good quality restaurants and several bars all within a strip of a couple of hundred yards.Also regular buses into Paphos for a change of scenery and hundreds of restaurants and bars to choose from there as well.And the best beach in the area although it does get very busy.Best of luck!!

|||

Yeah i would agree

im off to protoras in september

have been to aiya napa 5 times and paphos once we are now going to protoras

Its ideal for you as u can have nights our in protoras and then catch the bus to aiya napa and sample the nightlife there - what we plan on doing is havin a night there and getting the bus there and a taxi back (taxi is about £10 cyprus )

Havent stayed in protoras before but have had a night out there so thought we would try it for a change

Jo

|||

iv heard theres nothing on protaras its boring.....?? :S

|||

Why does nobody try Limassol.Stay away from the tourist area.Very cosmopolitan smart shops,good restaurants and quality nightlife.You do not see many drunks in Limassol,no fighting and only two fish and chip shops.Great place to explore from,best beaches are out of town.

It is a working town but at this time of year it is the holidays.If you want nightlife and Brits go to Ayia Napa or Paphos...

Trips out from Limassol

Can anyone recommend day/half-day trips from Limassol? We%26#39;d love to go to places with nice scenery, especially by the coast, and perhaps some historical places too. We%26#39;re thinking of the Ayia Napa/Protaros area and the Troodos mountains (not the Paphos area as we%26#39;re staying there towards the end of the holiday).

We%26#39;ll have a car but I%26#39;ll be 6 months pregnant so it will need to be somewhere that%26#39;s easily accessible and where I don%26#39;t have to walk too far.

Thanks in advance.

Visit the village of Omodhos with the monastery of the HolyCross and the lovely square and cobblestones and see the old wine press. You may tour one of the wineries of the village. Good food to be had at the restaurants of the village. I like Katoi. Interesting souvenirs like blown glass.

Curium amphitheare is very interesting (roman ruins and mosaics too) and also can hit the beach there. Cobblestones but very clean and not so busy. The restaurant closest to the end of the beach has usually good fish.

Up at Troodos, you could visit one of the UNESCO churches in the villages of Pedoulas / Moutoulas %26amp; Kalopanayiotis but that may be too long of a drive, however very very interesting. A stop at the Troodos station is always cool and refreshing, if you are upto it start one of the trails just to see the area or stop at the Psilodentro Restaurant at Platres for a lunch of very fresh trout.

Enjoy was stay

|||

Try Lania up the Troodos rd from Limassol,also a great place for honey balls (food) is Trimiklini,no tourists there are only Cypriot families.Lania taverna in Lania is great for a meze,or a very Cypriot meze very cheap is at the the Kouris Dam,again seems to be very popular with Cypriot families especially in the holidays or name days...All of these places seem to be off the tourist trail or just passed by,great places to relax.

|||

Thanks Bluebelle and Leica - you%26#39;ve given me some fab suggestions, which I%26#39;ll take with us.

Has anyone any suggestions of places we could go to by the sea?

U2fan

|||

Hi,

Pissouri makes a good day out, there is a nice beach there and a few tavernas on the seafront, more up in the town. You could go to Kolossi castle on the way or the way back, to round off the day.

|||

Thanks Rubersdog!

U2fan

|||

By the sea:Ladies mile-very soft sand very shallow clean water,can get a little hot,best in the morning before the wind picks up.

Governers beach,small but very quiet,sunbeds on the lawns by the taverna-good food and not overpriced.

Another beach in between Limassol (four seasons) and Governors beach (sorry cannot remember the name) stone beach but alot of tiny little coves.1 taverna the best sea food and freshest in Cyprus,on a Sunday there are hundreds of locals there all eating fish-very,very cheap.Nobody swims they just eat.All of our Cypriot friends have been there-so it must be good...Go before 1pm as the road is blocked due to the number of cars-no tourists there.

|||

1 more place away from the sea is Pentakamo,not far from the four seasons.Fantastic taverna at the top of the village.The food is excellent...music in the evenings (greek) The meze is first class,a little more expensive but the surroundings are lovely...

|||

Thanks leica - they%26#39;re fab tips!

changing currency

Hi I am going to Paphos in two weeks time, can any one advise is it best to go over with sterling and change it in Cyprus i heard you get a better rate, thanks

|||

Change a bit in the uk but change the rest by the harbour in the shops, no commission charge and usually 84 ish to the pound.

|||

On a recent visit to Spain I found it best to take money out of a cash point, bank charges 1.50 for the privilege but I was getting 1.49 euros to the pound, i.e the exchange rate that day rather than a sell rate. I know most places offer commission free but its not really, they just lower their sell rate to make their money. Is this the same in Cyprus? Also, can cash points be found easily

|||

Agree with bobmate re currency. Also if you havent been to Cyprus before, particularly Paphos, please rest assured that parts of it are more English than parts of England!! ( i.e. there is a Debenhams , Next and an M %26amp; S in Paphos.) There are plenty of banks and ATMs - bank hours are usually until 2-00pm latest though, so we always go in the morning.

|||

Open a nationwide Flexi account it%26#39;s the only bank account that lest you take cash out for free and at bussiness exchange rates, my man and I have used it all over the world and it saves you a fortune in fees it%26#39;s the only bank account that lets you do that. We have one that we use just for hollidays so we pay most of our holiday money into that then take some in traverlers cheques for safty.

|||

Another one :there are plenty of ATM%26#39;s that take LINK,no charge for taking out CY £s,you always get a good rate,at the moment 84CY.

|||

There is no charge for taking money out of the cash point but your bank will charge you for taking money out in other countrys which they don%26#39;t all ways do at the time. When I used my barclys bank card in Holland a few years back they charged me quite a lot ofr it and it came out at the end of the month thats why I recomened a flexi account as there is no charge by your bank and you get the best exchange rate.

|||

There is no charge for using LINK,I have never paid a penny.Another great card is the Morgan Stanley credit card.No charges for buying abroad plus you get the Cyprus bank rate on purchase that day.In short you always get the highest rate of exchange for the UK£.

|||

Thank you all for your replies they where all very helpfull, now just counting the days

Where to go

We ar looking to visit in Septmeber, and wonder where is the best place to stay. We like to go to the beach, wander streets to shop and eat and drink with a fairly lively craowd. Not into clubs but love to sit on patio%26#39;s and people watch.

What towns would you recommend?

We are also interested in access to trains or buses for exploring the island

Thanks for you help

|||

I stayed in Paralimni when last there. On the main road it was quiet and five minutes walk away was a %26quot;strip%26quot; full of shops, eateries, etc and of course if you want crowds, Aiya Napa was only a few miles to the south

There doesn%26#39;t seem to be much public transport in Cyprus and most use cars to get about. Since they drive on the left too, that is easy. There are travel agents which have tours of the island and other places on the nearby mainland.

The island does get hot, even in September and in some places you have to pay extra for air conditioning which can be worth it.

Beer in Cyprus?

hey does anyone know if you can get the canadian beer called LABATT BLUE in cyprus? I am staying in Coral Bay.

Thanks, Joe

|||

Forget that try Keo, the Cyprus beer

|||

forget keo, try Leon, it%26#39;s nicer :o)

|||

I never did quite like Leon, although you do have to be careful with draught Keo as it is not so nice if it is not fresh. Best pint I had was at the Meeting Pub on Larnaca seafront.

|||

thanks for the tips...so is keo nicer out of a bottle? cos I prefer to drink beer from a bottle.

so can you get labatt blue in cyprus?

|||

Bottled is OK if it is cold. Sorry dont know about Labatts, but imported beers are more expensive though.

|||

KEO or Carlsberg in bottles, cold....

Don%26#39;t think I have seen Labatts even in big s/mkts. But imported as everybody says is more expensive than local...

|||

I%26#39;ve never enjoyed draught Keo, but it is definately much nicer from the bottle

|||

Keo in bottles is great when cold. i think its nicer than draught keo.Even in restaurants a large bottle of keo is only CY£1.50 or £1.60 which is between £1.85 and £1.98. you get 1.12 pints from a bottle of keo too so excellent value.

|||

i dont care wut beer there is as long as they sell buckfast! and the beer is dirt cheap!haha

|||

Hi Beer Lovers

Is it too much to hope for real ale in Paphos !!

Anyone know what temp is now we go Sunday

Temperature is in the 30%26#39;s at present :

and will probably get hotter later in the month. Many places offer air conditioning which costs extra but is worthwhile. Don%26#39;t forget to take your driving licence, even if at present you don%26#39;t plan on hiring a car.

Quiet places

What are the names of any less touristy towns,where the Cypriot people live.We are staying in the Nissi Bay area,but will hire a car and would like to see some of the less crowded towns and beaches.We go on Sunday

|||

not many places will be quiet this time of the year. This is the holiday period for the Cypriots as well so places will be busy.

Nicosia will be quiet, as the people will have gone on holiday.

|||

No where...saying that my parents who live in Limassol say alot of the hotels are only half full.

|||

hi , head to the akamas area of cyprus and the town of polis.

the akamas peninsula is a beautifully unspoilt area , with superb countryside , deserted beaches ( though they tend to be pebbly ).

polis is lovely little town with a lovely square which has a good selection of restaurants/bars etc but it is in no way over touristy.

it is quite a drive from where you are staying ( about a 2 hour drive, but it is motorway ayia napa to paphos) but it is well worth it.

|||

Thanks all for your reply`s,did not give it a thought that it would be holliday season there as well.Will do the 2 hour drive ,as that area sounds lovely.

|||

On the way to Polis try Milos,lovely village surrounded by orange groves.The Mukhta of the village owns some of the most beautiful rental accomadation on the island (stone built in traditional style).Just past Milos is the village of Goudi (pronounced Gouthi) very small village with a steep road to the top.Fantastic view of the Akamas and coast.Lovely orchids in the spring,partridge,and if you are lucky you will see the very rare Cyprus hare.This area is all on the Akamas,if you go a little further in you will see the old Turkish cypriot villages,there are still three families living there and they just manage to eek out a living...

|||

I stayed in Paralimni which is just north of Aiya Napa. Very quiet but few Cypriots there.

|||

Thanks all for your replies,I am writting all information down in a little book that I am taking with me,not even packed yet.

never driven abroad

How good are the sign posts,is the motorway in a ring,so that if you stay on it you will get back to where you started.Is it easy to find petrol stations,are roads well made and lit at night.Is it strict on places you can park.Any tips or information on this subject would be a great help, THANKS.

|||

Well Cyprus would be a good place to start as they drive on the same side of the road as us!

The motorway runs from Paralimni in the east to Paphos in the west , and there is a section running to Nicosia from Larnaca. It does not go round in a circle. We find the signs OK, but always manage to get lost round Larnaca for some reason.

Petrol stations are easy to find and petrol is a lot cheaper than the UK. We always stick to the speed limits as there are a lot of police with speed cameras on the motorways, whose sole purpose in life is to catch hire cars speeding.

Parking is a lot easier than in the UK, most places you don%26#39;t have to pay.

The motorways and main roads are in a good condition generally, but the smaller country roads are very variable.

The driving time from Ayia Napa to Paphos is about 2.5 hours .

Hope this helps, it is well worth hiring a car and exploring if you can.

|||

Thanks for the reply,I never drive anywhere without making sure I have my Sat Nav in my car,but my one does not do Europe.

|||

Only other country I have driven in was Cyprus, well I had to really I used to live there!!!! Road signs are much better than in UK, motorways are brilliant. You just have to keep your wits about you as some of the other drivers are a bit manic.

|||

Buy a good road map. Maps given by hire companies are often poor. Take your time driving as most accidents by people in a foreign country are caused when they are in a hurry.

In a hire car you cannot travel between the south and north of the island unless specifically allowed to do so.

|||

Thanks all for good advice,will have wife and twin 5 year old daughters in car,so will be driving carefully and not speeding.

I wonder if somebody will tell me what we can expect from the weather in Pathos early December ?

Thanks in anticipation

Used to live other end of Cyprus but doubt it is much different to Paphos. Weathre is usually quite nice (especially if you are used to UK December weather). If it is sunny it is %26quot;sit outable%26quot; in, but a bit chilly at night.

**Nissi Beach Hotel**

Hi,

We are in the process of booking our wedding at the above hotel, however i was wondering if anyone know the prices of the wedding receptions?

The initial chat we have had with the travel agent didn%26#39;t mention this. They only mentioned the actual wedding.

Can anyone help?

|||

Hi We have just booked our wedding at Nissi beach for 25th July 2008. The travel agents don%26#39;t organise the reception you sort it out directly with the hotel. You can e-mail the weddings manager. His address is on the website.

Hope this helps

Nissi Beach Wedding

I have booked my Wedding there for August 2008!

We have booked to get married in the gazebo and have our reception at the Rondavel Beach Bar.

Has anyone done this?

If so, what is it like?!!

|||

Hi how are you. Sorry just back on Tripadvisor now. Ok I am just back from Napa, staying in the Nissi Beach (the beach bungalows). My wedding was on the 9th july in the gazebo and reception in the ambrosia. I did however see lots of receptions in the Rondavel and believe me you will have an absolute ball. Plus the view from the beach bar is amazing (you%26#39;ll be looking right across the sea to nissi island - the sun sets behind it!) If you need any info about the hotel or wedding planning there please feel free to ask. My email is colettenoone@hotmail.com. Letty xx

Corallia Beach Hotel appartments - Coral Bay

Hi

I have booked to stay at the Corallia in September in a studio apartment - I wondered if anyone has stayed there recently who could let me know if the twin beds advertised, are attached to the wall or if they can be pushed together? I requested a double but it does not seem to be an option with the studio rooms. Any info on the hotel would be gratefully received

Thanks

|||

Hi

We have also booked the Corallia in September. Guess its not that popular as nobody is posting! What we have seen looks nice though. Enjoy your stay!

|||

hi we are staying at the corallia in august never stayed there before but drove up last year to have a look around.it was around 10am,the hotel is in an exellent posistion right on the beach just a little way out of the coral bay village but could walk up to the village if you have taken plenty of salt tabs and water in the 90 + degrees of heat lol not to worry the public service buses stop at the hotel and run through coral bay down into paphos harbour and out to the waterpark and back again every 15 minutes.so if you do not want to walk or get a cab if you know what paphos cab are like 5 pound plus min no meters on lol it easy to get to all destinations for just 80 cents pound english.we had a quick peek in the rooms whilst the maids were cleaning they look nice large and roomy didnt notice the bed situation has we were looking from the doorway.The pool area is large and had plenty of free sunbeds left at ten in the morning in in the middle of august its got to be a first lol,grassed lawn areas around the pools which overlook the sea,there is a slope down to the beach.the beach has also sunbeds on it which i believe you are charged for per day by a little old man that comes round .there is a large poolside bar serving snacks the restaurant is large and airy and is very nice.just a little concern we noticed is the hotel is on 2 levels reception level down to pool area and beach but there are two lifts you can use if you dont like stairs all in all we cant wait for august to come and are really looking forward to staying at the corallia

Hi

We%26#39;ve just come back from a week%26#39;s stay at this hotel and had a fab time. The beds can be moved - not bolted to the walls, although I say this from our experience as we had an appartment not a studio, but I shouldn%26#39;t think it%26#39;d be any different.

The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, so if you%26#39;re really concerned about the beds, ring the hotel and ask.

The place is very clean. The first time our room was cleaned, the supervisor came round and asked if everything was OK with the cleaning, was there anything else we%26#39;d like done and was the standard OK!!

The pool is clean, and very warm as is the sea. There%26#39;s plenty of sun beds either round the pool in the garden or over looking the beach. Access to the beach is very easy - through the garden down some steps and you%26#39;re there. Once on the beach you can walk all along the front.

They offer a buffet breakfast which is good value for money. There%26#39;s also snack food available in the afternoons from the bar and buffet evening meals too. We had breakfasts but didn%26#39;t eat there at other times. People we met said that is was nothing special, just OK. Around the pool during the day there%26#39;s waiter service.

There%26#39;s a supermarket - well shop- on site which is very limited and rather expensive. But 5mins down the road is a good sized supermarket with everything you%26#39;d want. Next to this is an Irish pub, Italian, Chinese and and Idian - oh dear! - we didn%26#39;t go to these - we were in Cyprus, we wanted Cypriot food!!

The hotel next door - the Coral Beach Hotel - has a fantastic fish restaurant, well worth visting. Just walk along the beach to get to it.

Coral Bay resort is 20mins walk or a 5 mins bus ride. Paphos is 30 mins ride. The buses stop right outside the hotel every 15 mins and it%26#39;s £1 for however long your journey.

In Coral Bay AVOID the Hippopotamus and the Sienia restaurants, but DO eat at the Corallo - up the top of the street on the left.

Other good places: Pankatas - between Coral Bay and Paphos - bustop out side, and in Paphos the Seagull - just the other side of the harbour on your right, and the Rendezvous, stay on the bus passed the harbour and you%26#39;ll eventually see it on your right on a corner- green and white sign. If you tell the driver you want to go there he%26#39;ll stop for you. This and Corallo were our best meals, really fresh food. On Tuesdays there%26#39;s live music and dancing at Rendezvous. It%26#39;s a good laugh in a relaxed way not contrived or pushy at all.

If you haven%26#39;t been to Cypus before - like us - I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll love it and the hotel is somewhere we%26#39;d recommend to anyone. If you%26#39;re back visiting again - you lucky people. In either case, have a great time.

xx

|||

Hi,also just back from the Corallia and can confirm that the beds in the studio we were in were not fixed to the wall.

Would also agree with the majority of what joscats said but would disagree strongly about one of the restaurants mentioned.I assume it was Serianni that you meant,if it was then we had one of our best meals here and very reasonably priced for what we had,just my opinion though.Can also recommend the Coral King restaurant,ate several times there as the food and service was excellent with very friendly staff.Coralla was good as was El Faro.They do a greek night in El faro (can%26#39;t remember what night) but it is very busy then and the meals can be slow but worth the wait.

Found the bars,particularly Blazing Saddles, overpriced for what you got.Irish Bar was ok for a quick drink on the way back but did do good snacks at lunchtime.

Again the food at the hotel was ok(nice omelette) and staff friendly.Best thing about the hotel was being able to lie in and still get a bed anytime of the day,not that I do lie in but you can relax knowing you don%26#39;t have to get up at the crack of dawn armed with your towels.

|||

Meant to say,do not exchange your money at the hotel due to the lousy rate and commission they charge.I used the supermarket on the main road in Coral Bay(Angelena%26#39;s I think).No passport needed and 0.83 for T/C%26#39;s.

Sunrise Beach- eat in or eat out?

Hi there, I%26#39;m going to the sunrise beach with my 15 yr old daughter in August and we%26#39;re having bed and breakfast. Please can anyone advise me if it is worth paying for half board or can you let me know of some good restaurants/bars nearby? We both like Italian, chinese and english type food!

Also, does anyone know if the hotel has been refurbished yet?

Thanks, Katy.

|||

HI there

We are going to Sunrise Beach on Sunday..........I havn%26#39;t been before, but I do know that it has been refurbished.........you should read the posts on%26#39; %26#39;%26#39;%26#39;Sunrise Beach Wedding Protaras%26#39;%26#39;%26#39;, there is lots of info about the hotel...........

We are doing B%26amp;B, cos we like to eat out in the evenings..........there are lots of restaurants that would suit your needs........there%26#39;s a very nice Italian next door to Il Basilico...out of hotel turn left, just before the turning for the Capo Bay hotel.....if you keep walking past hotel, you will come to a huge Chinese restaurant, although its quite pricey and portions are quite small..........there is another chinese at the other end of resort...near to Oscars.....

%26#39;%26#39; English%26#39;%26#39; restaurants are too many to mention..........

Hope this helps........

I will be posting my comments on the hotel upon my return...

|||

Hi, Salsa Lady,

Thanks for the info!

Have a nice time! I will be asking you questions on your return!!!

Katy.

|||

hi,

when we stayed at Sunrise beach we were on b%26amp;b, on arrival we were offered a choice of 5 or 7 nights half board, can%26#39;t remember how much this was going to cost, but after having a wander round %26amp; looking at prices in restaurants we figured that eating out was best option as there is more choice %26amp; cheaper, although we heard good comments about the food at the hotel. They do several themed nights each week eg. flambe, chinese etc.

You will be able to get any type of food in protaras including Mac Donalds %26amp; Pizza Hut !!

|||

Eat out,no question!!

Andama,Promises,Nicolas,Divas restaurants all on the main strip along with others(Italian,Mexican,Chinese)Also head down some of the side roads which head down to the beach and you%26#39;ll find even more.Another I would recommend is Anatolia which is up on the main road heading into Pernera.

|||

Hi Katy

Have now returned fom Sunrise Beach.........we had a fantastic holiday, lovely hotel, lovely weather, lovely everything..........

WE did B %26amp; B, but we did eat in the hotel once, for the BBQ nite.it was £12.00 each. It was worth every penny, food was very good and there was a good choice..........

YOu dont have to change to Half board, you can just come and go as you want in the evening, every night was basically a different theme, but the price was always £12.00, unless it was A la Carte night, when the cost was £14.50 pp........

Lots of nice restaurants though...........Andamas was the best ( up to main road, turn right about 100yds, on opposite side of road , just past Eden Square, where Pizza Hut is)..... WE ate in there 3 nights.......also, Romeos quite nice.....main road, turn left, past the fountains (doesnt look much from outside, but food is lovely) restaurant Italiano, (opposite the Love Boat pub)...nice as well..

Yes Katy, it has been refurbished..our room (222) was great...ignore the comments about the towels, they are big, white and very thick and fluffy..........towels changed daily and bedding twice a week...........huge balconies.........

WE did pay £1 per day for the safe, but when I asked about paying for the fridge, she said she would only charge me for 5 days in stead of 7.........cost me £15 as opposed to £21..........

Little tip though..........I would recommend emailing the hotel regarding your sunbeds...........these are allocated on arrival, but trust me if you want a bed near the pool, you%26#39;ll probably be out of luck.........when we arrived on Sunday afternoon, I went to pool attendant and asked for a bed near pool, he said no chance, he said you could only have pool area if you had prvously emailed (which I had), when I told him this, he pulled out a file full of emails, found mine, and then said %26quot; no problem%26quot; and gave me 2 beds (which up until that moment were all in use!!!!)

If you need any more info, let me know!!

Karen

Hi Karen, (salsalady),

Glad you had a nice holiday!

Thanks for all the info! You have set my mind at rest and am looking forward to August now! lol! I will probably be asking you a few questions nearer the time but heres a few for now!!

What are the breakfasts like?

Is the fridge also a mini bar filled with items?

Is it better to have sunbeds by the pool or on the grass regarding it being very busy and are beach towels provided?

Is there waiter service by the pool for drinks?

If you dont use your sunbeds for one day does someone else get them?

Do you have to pay for beds on the beach by the hotel?

Whats the entertainment like?

I have booked a sea view room, is it better to request a high floor room?

Are sterling travellers cheques accepted?

Finally....is it true that your handbag is counted as your one item of hand luggage and are there still restrictions in place?

I look forward to your reply!!

Thanks,

Katy.

|||

Katy

Right then, will try to remember all your questions:

Breakfast was very nice...self service, but waiter service for the tea/coffee etc. lots of choice...cereals, fruits, bacon, eggs, toms, beans etc........donuts, danish pastries, croissants, toast.....fresh fruit..

Fridge in the room was empty, there was a large bottle of water which was complimentary, as said previously they charged us for 5 days only (£15) so really only £2 per day.....(worth every penny)...we took a kettle and tea and coffee, so could buy milk too put in fridge...

Sunbeds........we were1 row back from pool side (only 2 rows anyway!!). Not too noisy........I thought better than grassy area.....but if you do end up on grass, ask for the grass near the pool bar, as other side goes into shade too early, and all wedding pictures are taken there........The sunbeds are yours for the duration, but alot of people didnt know about the allocation system and just plonked themselves anywhere....you just have to ask them to move.no probs...beach towels are free and very large, pool attendant supplies them and you can change them as many times as you want and have as many as you want..

Sunbeds on beach cost £1.25 each per day and parasols cost £1.75 per day...

Entertainment...not bad........starts after 10pm.........singer on a Tuesday called Nick, very good, really gets the crowd going.....other nights included: a magician.....naff..........some dancers........pretty naff......a quiz nite which was a laugh...(our team won it.....we won ONE drink each!!!)

Sea View rooms..... go for 2nd floor at least, we were on 2nd floor and view was good.........beware though as some of the sea views rooms (above the breakfast area) had very small balconies.......all the rest had large balconies..........

Hand luggage..........dunno where you%26#39;re flying from , but Luton airport is not part of BAA and so their rules (1 handbag AND 1 piece of hand luggage) do not count.....I had a handbag over my shoulder and a vanity case, and they made me squeeze my handbag into my little vanity case.........they were very stroppy and jobsworthy!!!

Perfume etc.....must be in clear plastic self seal bag no bigger then 8%26quot; x 8%26quot;.........and no bottles larger than 100ml.........(I bought travel bottles from boots)...........lipsticks mascara etc can go in makeup bag in hand luggage no probs there.

FINALLY%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

I dont know about travel chqs cos I only took currency.........

But I will tell you this, on the strip they were offering an exchange rate of .8450 for cash and in hotel they offered .7900.......dreadful exchange rate........

Hope this all helps Katy....I%26#39;m now off to see the doctors about my RSI..............ha ha .............lol

Karen

|||

OH!!! I knew I would forget one of your questions!!!!

Yes, there is waiter service around the pool for drinks and for snacks from pool bar.........

They also bring round complimentary fruit in the afternoons...very nice.........pieces of melons, apples, oranges on cocktail sticks..nice touch I thought!

|||

Hi Karen,

Thank you soooo much for all the info!!!!!

Just one last question.....ha ha! for now anyway....

you mentioned waiter service etc... can you charge this to your room or do you have to pay by cash and also for when you have a meal at night there?

I am flying from Manchester.

Thanks again,

Katy.

|||

Hi Katy

Dont know whether Manchester Airport comes under BAA, check their website, if it does then you can take a handbag and 1 piece of hand luggage...........

Waiter service.......... yes you can charge everything to your room, when they serve you, they ask whether its cash or charge.........the same applies in the restaurant and bars........only place you cant charge is in the hotel shop (but I think thats a seperate concern)

Only thing is with the charging, they dont ask for any proof of your room no. ..............infact they dont even ask if you%26#39;re staying there???

We jokingly once gave our friends room number to the waitress, they were with us, dont worry...but the staff didnt question it???!!!!

Same at breakfast, they dont ask for any proof that your%26#39;e a guest, someone was saying one morning that the previous week, a couple had been coming into restaurant from the beach and taking away, plates of toast, cakes etc.......filling up their bottles with juice etc....

Karen

nissiana

I am planning to come to ayia napa in late september, but want to stay on nissi beach in the nissiana. Is this hotel ok?

Apart from the beach, is there anything at Nissi Beach, ie. restaurants and bars etc.? I like to walk into town but don%26#39;t want to have to walk for miles every time I want to have a drink or a bite to eat in the evening. How far will I have to walk? And how nice is Nissi beach? Some have told me its a dump, whereas it looks lovely on photograhs.

Let me know!!

|||

Hi Suz

You%26#39;re in a good spot.Don%26#39;t worry. Beach just across road...Ok, the centre is 30 minswalk away but you have some nice restaurants and bars along the way...trust me...some nights you may not reach the centre...Enjoy!

|||

thanks, thats really helpful of you.

|||

suz

there are plenty of restaurants etc.along Nissi Ave. Just got back from there

Nissi beach is nice but gets crowded and to be honest I saw some litter on the beach and in the sea - some people are piggish and leave their litter behind to spoil it for everyone else.

Saying that we still had a fab time as I%26#39;m sure will you

bethsheba

|||

we%26#39;re thinking of goin the first week in october, do you think it will still be crowded then? Are there any good bars/restaurants locally... what do you recommend?! Also, are there many taxis... how easy is it to jump in a cab just outside the hotel or do you have to order them?

Have you stayed in the nissiana? It looks ok, but don%26#39;t know whether to push the boat out and book the adams beach hotel. Looks nice but don%26#39;t know if its worth the extra cash. The olympic lagoon resort looks nice but a bit out of the way. Don%26#39;t fancy bein stuck in the middle of nowhere

|||

Hi how are you! Just back from there again! (Have been to Napa about 6 times now and going back again the last week in September). Last time we stayed in the Nissi Beach Hotel (Beside the Nissiana) and found some really lovely restaurants in the area. There is a place called Erics, food to die for and not expensive. Works out about £20 cypriot for a really big dinner (believe me!). Literally beside Erics, there is a place called Atlas (Italian) also beautiful. Pizza and Pasta was just fab there. I had been told about Applebells which is beside the above two but was very disappointed with it. DONT ORDER STEAK over there! Its from New Zealand and really tough! You%26#39;ll be chewing it all night. Taxi%26#39;s are everywhere, no need to book. Also if you are walking and you discover people beeping at you, its taxi drivers looking to bring you home. If you want to go the other end of Ayia Napa (the party end) a taxi will be £4cyp. Basically to any part of Ayia Napa that will be the cost of taxi. Nissi Beach itself is stunning but a couple of times (especially in the evening) i saw plastic bags floating in the sea. If you would like to travel to the beach down at the harbour (still in Napa) its much nicer there and really clean and surrounded by shops where you can get nice cold drinks etc. If you need to know anything else feel free to ask. I%26#39;ve stayed in both parts of Ayia Napa (the town has two areas, the quieter and the party!) so I can point you in the right direction. Letty xx

|||

Thanks, Letty!

I%26#39;ve looked at the Nissi Beach hotel, and been advised to get a sea view room as they%26#39;re well worth it! The pool doesn%26#39;t look that great though, did you find it ok?

Do you think its better to stay more centrally? I%26#39;ve found a really good deal with the Napa Plaza but feel myself strangely drawn to Nissi Beach end!!

Thanks for all your advice, much appreciated x

|||

Hiya! I stayed in the Beach Bungalows so cant really comment on the sea view rooms. I can confirm though that the are up nice and high and you will most definitely have a sea view (over the beautiful gardens)! The only thing I would say is if you are booking a sea view room ask for one thats not located over the restaurant/bar. The music can be quite loud in the evenings and if youre wrecked you definitely wouldnt be able to sleep! The same for the morning! The sea view rooms are located over the ambrosia and also the bacchus bar and breakfast starts at 7am!! There is plenty of sea view rooms that are not located over these though so ask for one of these instead. If you ask for a sea view room in the direction of the Beach Bungalows you%26#39;ll be fine! No I think youre right about Nissi Beach. Believe me it would be hard to find anywhere more breathtaking and the staff are just brilliant. The pool is quite decieving! Its actually a lovely pool, quite big and doesnt get too packed as most people walk the extra 20 steps to the beach!! Plus the water isnt freezing cold, its just right. Also there is a snack bar beside it (snack bar is an understatement!) They do everything there from drinks, sandwiches or a proper feed! We went there one evening before we went out for a few drinks and I just wanted a toasted ham and cheese sandwich. Well if you saw what came out on the plate!! Tripple decker toasted sandwiches, chips and salad! I was absolutely stuffed!! Honestly though you will not have a nicer hotel anywhere. The gardens are beautiful, the beach at the hotel is fab and the staff will not be able to do more for you. You have absolutely made the right choice. If you need anything else just ask! My email is colettenoone@hotmail.com
