changing currency

Hi I am going to Paphos in two weeks time, can any one advise is it best to go over with sterling and change it in Cyprus i heard you get a better rate, thanks

Change a bit in the uk but change the rest by the harbour in the shops, no commission charge and usually 84 ish to the pound.

On a recent visit to Spain I found it best to take money out of a cash point, bank charges 1.50 for the privilege but I was getting 1.49 euros to the pound, i.e the exchange rate that day rather than a sell rate. I know most places offer commission free but its not really, they just lower their sell rate to make their money. Is this the same in Cyprus? Also, can cash points be found easily

Agree with bobmate re currency. Also if you havent been to Cyprus before, particularly Paphos, please rest assured that parts of it are more English than parts of England!! ( i.e. there is a Debenhams , Next and an M %26amp; S in Paphos.) There are plenty of banks and ATMs - bank hours are usually until 2-00pm latest though, so we always go in the morning.

Open a nationwide Flexi account it%26#39;s the only bank account that lest you take cash out for free and at bussiness exchange rates, my man and I have used it all over the world and it saves you a fortune in fees it%26#39;s the only bank account that lets you do that. We have one that we use just for hollidays so we pay most of our holiday money into that then take some in traverlers cheques for safty.

Another one :there are plenty of ATM%26#39;s that take LINK,no charge for taking out CY £s,you always get a good rate,at the moment 84CY.

There is no charge for taking money out of the cash point but your bank will charge you for taking money out in other countrys which they don%26#39;t all ways do at the time. When I used my barclys bank card in Holland a few years back they charged me quite a lot ofr it and it came out at the end of the month thats why I recomened a flexi account as there is no charge by your bank and you get the best exchange rate.

There is no charge for using LINK,I have never paid a penny.Another great card is the Morgan Stanley credit card.No charges for buying abroad plus you get the Cyprus bank rate on purchase that day.In short you always get the highest rate of exchange for the UK£.
