Hi
can anyone help recommend a traditional cypriot taverna for a wedding in the Pernera / Protaras area - preferably not on the strip ?
We would like a meze and a more casual restaurant with excellent hosts ?
there must be loads of places out there
thanks

Depends on exactly where you are staying. I know of a very good typical restaurant which could fit the bill but it is out of Protaras and Pernera and is on the Paralimini Road. It is directly opposite the Golden Coast hotel (called Mikrolamas (not sure if I have spelt that correctly). I am going out to Cyprus on the 17th May so will check it out if you like.

Hi Kath
thanks for that - would you believe that is the only one I have emailed for details -
we are staying in Vrissiana but happy to drive to Pernera as guests are in a mixture of both resorts
thanks

Returned from Penera on the 24th May. The Mikrolamas definitely do wedding parties but we didn%26#39;t see any evidence of the place being open whilst we were there, possibly because it was early season . The other taverna I mentioned, The Onassis, did a party whilst we were there. Meze of around 24 dishes in very relaxed surroundings - food looked excellent and it worked out at 10CYP per head.

Have a look at the Evandrea and Polyxenia Isaak, both at Marlita beach, Pernera. I know the Evandrea has to be booked via Aphrodite Weddings, not sure about the PI.

The Polyexenia is certainly in a lovely position and should also be considered. Another place is The Blue Spice restaurant which is opposite the Anastasia Hotel - now that is really beautiful food.

Yes, I will second that Kath. The Blue Spice does extremely good food....... when we return In just over 6 weeks we shall definately be returning. The Marlita Itself, do lovely %26quot;dinnertime%26quot; meals outside, under the Canopy. Very good portions for not a bad price......... ooh 48 days and counting!!

Hi Cyprusworshipper,
I%26#39;ve only got 37 days to go!!!!!!! Roll on. I%26#39;ll try the Marlita this time. Have you ever eaten at The Fresh House, top of the road in Pernera. Loads of people told me in May that the food was superb but it looks a bit like a burger and chips place from the outside.

Hi, must agree with Kath on her choice of Mikrolamanos Taverna next to the Golden Coast Hotel, our family used this place on many occasions and found it to be superb , owned by Chris / Mary a very charming couple and great hosts, we are returning to the Golden Coast In July 06 and it had better be opened by then !!!!!.
hope this helps

I went to the very first opening of the Mikrolamanos - it was owned then by a sandy haired Englishman and a Cypriot - do you know if it has changed hands.
We found the food very good but I%26#39; m afraid one night we got really ripped off and ended up paying nearly 100CYP for a meal!! albeit very nice and that put us off somewhat but would like to give it another go. I%26#39;m sure it was open in May - just that we are early morning people so it was obviously always closed but I%26#39;m sure the lights were on in the evening when we went past in a taxi.
