We went for the day last year.We set off early in the morning.We arrived at 10am very quiet.We walked to the sea front through the shops.The main square was full of broken glass,rubbish,vomit.It was a shame to see this, in what was such a lovely place years ago.We met a local bar owner,who said it is always quiet in the morning as the English are sleeping off their hangovers...

I would have still gone if I had used the forum as the reports are glowing.
thank you for your concern,are you a travel agent ?
|||
I went to Malia for a day in Zante it was exactly the same, you go to any town or city on a sunday morning anywhere and it will be no different.
|||
here you cant enjoy anywhere in a day. go for a week and explore it in full. you have to travel to the outskirts and see everything. obviously in the heart of ayia napa, where the clubs are, there will be mayhem the night before and its only normal for vomit,glass,rubbish etc to be on the streets. You were probobly out walking before the cleaners.
your honestly the only person ive heard saying ayia napa %26quot;is a toilet%26quot;

Sorry I do not agree.Ayia Napa is for all,families included.There should be no vomit or broken glass in the main square at 10 in the morning.I have visited the outskirts,they are lovely I agree,but so should the center.
People save hard all year and pay good money in the high season,they should not have to put up with vomit and glass when going out for breakfast....sorry.

Hi Leica....no I%26#39;m not a Travel Agent....just another holiday maker. However I have been going every year for a fortnight since 92. I%26#39;m lucky though, tI ake two holidays a year and go Carribean or Indian Ocean earlier on in the year. I understand what you mean about the centre after the night before, but I would not advise a family to stay at a hotel or right in the centre. I would recommend the Nissi Bay area although it costs more to stop there......also I do not believe that it is just the English sleeping off their hangovers.LOL...I think that the Welsh, Scots and Irish partygoers would be upset to be called the E word!

I to was in the Indian Ocean earlier Merufenfushi,absolute bliss !! I quoted a elderly Cypriot lady who has lived in Ayia Napa for 76 years.I am sure there are other nationalities who stay in the area also.Re:families staying in Ayia Napa. Travel agents and tourist boards do not distiguish between party goers and families,and advertise the main area as suitable for families,and very cheap at the price.
Hence trip advisor and similar sites to pass on expieriences of un biased travellers.We are all different in our lifesyle and what we expect out of our holidays.I have travelled widely and expect to see and hear things I would not of experienced 20 years ago,I now have the opportunity to pass on these expierences.
It is certainly not a place I would take my 12 year daughter and my 70 year old mother.

I%26#39;m not sure why anyone would need to go to the square in the daytime anyway :o)
So your deatialed %26#39;review%26#39; of ayia napa being a toilet is a bit wide of the mark.
What about the rest of the town, did you enjoy it?
