Hi Shannon,
Sorry to ask about a different subject, but on one of the forums you mentioned Peanuts in Kyrenia. Could you tell me exactly where it is located please. We go to Kyrenia every year in August and I cannot think where this might be.
Thanks alot

Haven%26#39;t done a trip to the north of Cyprus so can%26#39;t comment but the a trip to The Troodos is very well worth doing. Either coach or full day off road 4 x 4 safari. You will get to see more with the safari because its a Landrover which basically accommodates 8 to 10 people. Pick ups start at 7.30 am and you generally get back to your hotel by 5.00. Lunch included and you really do get into the heart of the mountains. Our party included 4 Russians who spent the whole day from pick up to drop off drinking neat vodka - they couldn%26#39;t speak a word of English and we coudn%26#39;t speak Russian but everyone had a fantastic although tiring day.

Yes...I have done a trip from the South to the North. We visited the ancient city of Salamis. Also had a trip around Famagusta and spent some time on the beach there. There is only access to a small part of the beach but you can see the long strip of beach in the distance. A friend of mine, English, grew up there. He remembers using the beach and told me it is one of the reasons why the hotels built now in the South have to be built small. The beach ended up being shaded by the high hotels in the later afternoon. We also visited Othello%26#39;s Tower there. Visited a mosque. Also the burial place of some biblical character and a drive along some of the Karpas peninsula.

Keep away from the 4x4 landrovers, they are a bloody menace. They visit our winery in the village (troodos mountains).last year speeding through the village they knocked over a young child and carried on driving. They are run by what I call a throwback to the seventies, bit of a local celeb....watch out he talks a load of rubbish..
The best way to go over to the North is drive-once you get over there is a long drive to see anywear else apart from Nicosia.
Plenty of Brits buying illegal land and property, saying that Turkish are very friendly and welcoming.Far cheaper than the south.Beware of bringing anything back to the south,if you get a bad border guard they will take the lot...

Hi Shannon
Last October, we did Thomson%26#39;s %26quot;Untouched North%26quot; day trip, which included driving across the border at Nicosia, the beautiful Abbey of Bellapais, a lovely traditional lunch with wine, and a few hours in Kyrenia visiting the castle and then having some free time.
It was a really interesting day; we particularly enjoyed finding out more about the island%26#39;s recent history, which was very moving.
The only downside was the bus - because we%26#39;re both quite tall, it wasn%26#39;t particularly comfortable but we made a few comfort stops so we were able to stretch our legs.

We went on a day trip by coach from Paphos to Kyrenia back in March. We booked it down in the harbour, I think it was about CYP12 each and well worth the money. We drove to Nicosia, crossed the border, and then went on to Bellapais. Next we went to the shipwreck museum in Kyrenia, then had free time to have lunch and a wander round the town. I loved the mountain scenery on the drive and Kyrenia harbour was quite picturesque although it would all have looked even better had it not tanked down with rain most of the day! We had an english speaking guide all day and a turkish one once we crossed the border as well.
