Got Married in Cyprus!

We are just back from Protaras after getting married in Sunrise Beach Hotel on 5th July, and for anyone who is wondering whether they should go away and get married - do it!!

For anybody who has booked a wedding but are a bit worried about things, don%26#39;t be, it couldn%26#39;t have been any more relaxing or hassle free.

We booked our wedding through Libra, and they use Weddings In Style as the Wedding co-ordinators. Sandra Naismith was ours, and she put us at ease straight away. We met with her the day after we arrived and she goes through everything - extra flowers for bridesmaids, types of posies for bride, kind of photos you want (formal or informal, colour or black %26amp; white), if you%26#39;re having a dvd, the songs you would like played. She also arranged for 3 girls to come and see me a few days before the wedding to talk about hair, makie up and nails and they come to your hotel room on the day of the wedding - fantastic, not too OTT.

We also went to a place Medweds Ltd, about 20 mins from our hotel and were able to organise favours and place cards for the reception, which were delivered on the morning of the wedding.

We then had our reception in the Corner Restaurant which is right at the top of the strip, food was out of this world and the manager - Theo, couldn%26#39;t have been more helpful and even did a seating plan for us, we had about 20 people there.

Would also recommend the Sunrise Beach Hotel to get married in - beautiful setting.

In all, we couldn%26#39;t have had a better day, and if anybody has any questions about getting married in protaras feel free to ask away!

Hi there! My fiance and I are thinking of getting married in cyprus next year and were thinking of staying in the Sunrise Beach. There may only be 4 of us so were not sure if a hotel ceremony would be suitable for us, what do you think? We were thinking maybe a town hall ceremony and then a meal, the Corner restaurant sounds ideal.

We did go to protaras a few years ago so know where it is. Did you go to protaras before your wedding and would you go again?

i have got MedWeds details so will probably go with them if we go ahead. Glad all went well for you!

If you decide to get married in the Sunrise Beach Hotel, i would probably recommend to go for the sea view room to get married in as this is more private, it overlooks the sea and the photos will be beautiful, and then you can get photos done in the gardens afterwards.

We can%26#39;t really comment on what it%26#39;s like to get married in the town hall, we had to go there one day to register, and there didn%26#39;t seemto be any gardens around it to get photos done or it didn%26#39;t seem to be near the sea, but that%26#39;s something you could probably enquire into further.

We didn%26#39;t go to Protaras before the wedding, this was actually our 1st time in cyprus and it was all dead on and i felt we were really looked after.

The corner restaurant was definitely a good choice, we all had steaks for our dinner, how often do you get that at a wedding over here?! We then went to a cocktail bar across the road from the restaurant afterwards and partied until they were closing, the staff were lovely and really looked after us.

Hope this helps!

We didn%26#39;t have a religious ceremony, we had a civil ceremony so not sure what all you will need, but i can tell you what to bring to the town hall to register:

- Copy of birth certificates

- Copy of both witnesses passports

- Your own passports

- Affidavits for each of you

- Registration fee

- Divorce papers if any of you have been married before.

I think for a religious ceremony you may need a record of church attendance, but you would need to look into this.

It was all very straight forward and hassle free.

Good luck!
