Me and my Fiance are getting married in Paphos next year and are wondering whether to get married in the town hall or at our hotel (Athena Beach) beachfront. Can anyone offer any information or photos and point out the good and bad points of either location. If getting married at the hotel is it secluded and away from other hotel guests?

Hi there
Not sure I can tell you the pros and cons but I am also getting married in Paphos next year and we have decided to go for the Hotel wedding. We have chosen the Paphos Amathus as our venue and will have a civil service and blessing in the Gardens overlooking the sea.
It was easy to arrange, I called the hotel and they have booked the date, I called the town hall and spoke to a lady called Leah who booked the registrar to come to the Amathus (cost of CYP£200). The Amathus then arranged the Minister to do the blessing and that was all done in a couple of hours!
Paphos town hall is a lovely building and I know a few people who have gone to weddings there. I guess a Town Hall wedding seems a bit more formal and %26#39;traditional%26#39; and a hotel wedding may feel slighlty informal as it will be also where you are staying for your honeymoon!
Let me know what you decide..

Getting Married in Paphos is a lovely start to your life together and thousands of people do it here every year. One point about getting married in a hotel is that you are on site and everything can happen there - therefore no additional expense of cars etc or even the stress of getting from A to B. Most of the hotels in Paphos can arrange the full services and the deciding fact will no doubt be your budget.
Paphos Town Hall
Paphos Town Hall built in 1955 is an attractive traditional white stone building with an impressive entrance and attractive gardens, located in the old town of Paphos offering a wedding location with a sense of occasion, style and dignity
However the below churches are lovely.
St. Georges Chapel, Paphos
The St. George is a beautiful designed red and cream stone Chapel with a distinctive domed roof and twin bell towers, complete with stunning interior frescoes. Located in the grounds of the 4 star St Georges Hotel.
Ayia Kyriaki Paphos (St Paul%26#39;s Pillar)
This Byzantine-style church is located in Kato Paphos. Built around the 13th Century on the site of the earlier Basilica and surrounded by Roman ruins and mosaics, steeped in history and tradition especially for that special occasion.
Both of these churches are quite small but ideal for small groups, as with many weddings of couples from abroad not all family and friends can make the trip. My Video Wedding Cyprus offer a unique service - video streaming the highlights of your special day to family and friends the DAY after your wedding. All missing family and friends will be able to share in your special day by watching video sent to them by you. check out the website

we got married at peyia town hall, it was held outside, reception by the sea, for us we%26#39;d come all that way and wanted to enjoy cyprus, and not be stuck in a hotel, plus you pay hotel price%26#39;s!
we went with Di at paphosfinder weddings, it couldn%26#39;t have been better.

I got married at paphos town hall in may 2005 and it%26#39;s a beautiful place. I opted for a 4pm wedding (last one of the day) I found this better as I had all day to chill out.
I used cyprus dream weddings to co-ordinate things that end for me and everything went to plan I had no hic ups at all.

i used cyprusweddings.com , very good no problems at all

Hi here,
My hubby and I recently got married at Paphos Town Hall and had a Champagne Reception (and cutting of the cake) at the hotel afterwards. In the evening we were to Demokritos a traditional taverna for the evening reception. We had a great time. Everything went very smoothly all thanks to our wedding planner, Igor from Ido weddings. (www.ido.com.cy). His website has some pics of us under the testimonial page (we are Jane %26amp; Darrin, married on 18th april). If you want to see any more pics, e-mail me, my address is on the web page also.
I have not been to the Athena Beach hotel, but the weddings in our hotel were in full view of everyone, not very personal, but then I guess it depends what you are looking for.
We had lots of pics taken in the hotel grounds at the chanpagne reception and also got sutset pics taken in the evening which I highly recommend.
All the best for your big day.
Jane :-)
