hello all
i%26#39;m hoping some wise and experienced traveler can help me.
my partner is 30th in September and we have decided to go to Cyprus, choosing Paphos as our desired resort. We are looking for a hotel that is quite central and also one which provides board on an all inclusive basis. Could anyone recommend a suitable place? we are currently looking at the 2 RUI hotels or the Ledra Beach, any thoughts? Also, I’m looking for advice on a good, traditional local restaurant for her birthday itself. We are looking to pay no more that around 100 euros with wine. Will I find anywhere decent for that? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi pablo.e,
The 2 Riu%26#39;s are good as are all the hotels, but I think that the Ledra Beach is probably my best bet. Nicos the Assistant Manager is a great guy always helpfull, also the Ledra is about the 4th hotel down the hotel strip easy walking distance to the Triangle. There is a small taverna called Ficardos run by Nicholas another nice guy the restaurant has a quadrant area also a suntrap, ot sure but think the meze is around CYP10-12. On some nights he has a musician playing during the night

excuse my ignorance buts whats the triangle ? resturant sounds good, meze is a starter though right? would 100 euros cover a decent meal?

CYP12.00 is equal to about 21 Euro%26#39;s, wine will be between CYP4-6.00 equalling to 10 Euro%26#39;s
The triangle is at the top end of the hotel strip with restaurants %26amp; bars

To enlighten you further “The Island” is a large traffic island filled with restaurants, bars, %26amp; shops , it’s stands at the start of the main drag where the night life is

Pablo - a Cypriot meze is a traditional Greek/Cypriot meal which is served tapas style in small dishes. It starts off with pitta bread, oils, tsatsiki, hoummus, taramasalata, olives etc. etc. and then the dishes just keep coming from the kitchen. I can%26#39;t remember all the dishes but expect to be served moussaka, kebabs, beef stiffado, roast potatoes, lamb kleftiko and salad. There are approximately 20 separate dishes on a typical meze and they just seem to keep coming and coming.
Usually a meze is served for a minimum of 2 people and is a wonderful way to sample traditional dishes without having to order a whole portion for yourself.
When in Cyprus you should do it at least once and it would be a lovely way of celebrating a birthday if you have never had meze before.

We went to Cyrpus in May for my Mum%26#39;s 60th Birthday - 13 of us travelled ages between 27 and 39 (except mum!).
We stayed in the Lara Beach on All Inclusive which is a nice hotel about 10 minutes by bus from Paphos going towards Coral Bay. Nice hotel but we eat out a few times.
We went to the Deep Blue Sea restaurant for mum%26#39;s birthday and it was absolutely lovely highly recommend it the staff could not do enough for you - even organised a cake for us as well.

Sorry to be confusing on my post , it should of course read
%26quot; the triangle%26quot; is a large traffic island

thanks for clearing that up, also thanks to everyone who has replied so far.
now i%26#39;m a bit stuck. Should i book an all inclusive like the ledra beach which was the original plan, or B%26amp;B at a good 4/5 star hotel? The other half likes window shopping and strolling through the main tourist areas and i think we will be out most nights, especially now i have further researched the meze, can%26#39;t wait - or should that be weight!! to get stuck in! Having recently returned from and all inclusive in Spain we felt it was good value for money due to the local area being so expensive, not sure though with pahos. any thoughts - 550 each for a decent 4 star B%26amp;B or 730 for ledra beach, is it worth the extra?
Also, can anyone make further suggestions for a fantastic 30th birthday night meze? I know one has already been suggested but i like a choice!

I think one of the most enjoyable parts of a holiday in the Paphos area is the evening meal, there is so much choice %26amp; generally speaking the food is very good, from a few beers %26amp; a meal in a taverna to a slap up meal with a good wine in a restaurant , In my opinion not to be missed. My choice would be
B %26amp; B.
